Hello, my name is Sophia Phillips!
I create sustainable, accessible, and inclusive designs with which the user forms a personal bond. I inspire the utilization of objects which would otherwise be wasted.
During my time at Drexel University studying Product Design, I discovered my passion for sustainable design and since, I have been sharpening my skills as a designer, and as a person as well. Problem-solving to make everything in my life, from my cat's litter to the clothes I buy, as sustainable and beneficial as possible. I hold the value that if I need something new I should try to repair it, make it myself, consider if I know someone who can make it, or if I can buy it from someone whose business I would love to support- in that order!
As a designer, I believe that products should be long-lasting and each provide a bright improvement to your life, and I design with this as my focus. There is great value in making something beautiful and memorable- this fuels my creativity.
As a designer, my core values are as follows:
1. Expand the potential of that which already exists.
2. Create things that conjure or create memories.
3. Make sustainable, accessible, inclusive, needed, and affordable products.
4. ほど ほど に “hodo hodo ni” to use just enough design.
5. Do not only create value in an object, create a relationship with it.
6. It is beautiful, design it beautifully.
